Michigan's Birthday, History, and Activities


To celebrate Michigan's birthday, we did several fun activities. I also downloaded several worksheets from www.teacherspayteachers.com. :)

Food:
Using Michigan shape cookie cutters, we made Michigan toast and Michigan Pizza.

Map:
We made a map of Michigan with our handprints. 

History:
1. We watched videos on YouTube about Michigan history, and I gave Harry a quiz.

2. To demonstrate how early settlers made a living, we had a trading post and traded different items. 

3. To demonstrate how early settlers lived, we made farm houses out of graham crackers, frosting, and animal crackers.

4.  We also constructed the Mackinac Bridge using cups, paper towel, and popsicle sticks.
