Meteorologists and Weather Forecast

Since we learned about weather, I decided to make a news station. We become meteorologists and reported the weather!! Soooo much fun!! I got the maps and weather clip art from Google too. The video camera is made from a cereal box and paper towel roll.

Algebra for Kids

From last week... Yes, toddlers can do algebra!! It is simple!! I wrote addition math problems done with the answers. Harry had to solve for X, using the shamrocks.

Example: 2 + X = 8
How many more do I need to get 8?
Count the shamrocks until you get to 8!

St. Patrick's Day

Here's a look at the St. Patrick's Day crafts and activities we did!! Harry also completed several worksheets from www.teacherspayteachers.com

Weather

We learned all about weather with some fantastic activities!!! Harry also completed several worksheets from www.teacherspayteachers.com

Here's what we did:

Homemade Tornado:
**Put dish soap and water in a bottle, and then spin the bottle. Flip it upside down to see the tornado!

Thunderstorm:
**Fill a glass with water, add shaving cream on top, and then add a few drops of blue food coloring to make it rain!

Make Wind:
**Place cotton balls on the ground, and blow into a straw to make wind! ;)

Make it rain:
**Fill a container with water and food coloring. Add cotton balls. Squeeze the cotton balls out to make it rain!

Make it rain:
**Fill a glass with hot water, and add 3 ice cubes. Cover the glass with a plate. Condensate builds up and gives you the illusion of rain.

Clouds:
**Use cotton balls to represent the different types of clouds.

States of Matter

From last week.... We learned about the different states of matter using Cheerios. Cheerios were an excellent way to visualize the states of matter.

We also brainstormed different things in each state of matter and drew pictures.

We used ice cubes and liquid water to show water in the liquid and solid state.

Water Cycle

From last week... We learned about the water cycle! We made a diagram of it along with a simulation of it in a bag. We also worked on some flashcards that I downloaded from www.teacherspayteachers.com

Volcanoes

From a few weeks ago... We made 2 types of volcanoes!! FUN!!!

Volcano #1:
Paper towel roll, play dough, baking soda, food coloring, and vinegar.

We put the play dough around the outside of the paper towel roll, and we put the baking soda inside the paper towel roll with a few drops of food coloring. Then we poured the vinegar inside the paper towel roll for the volcano to erupt! We LOVE this experiment!!

Volcano #2:

Diet Coke and Mentos candy

Drop a Mentos in Diet Coke and watch it explode!!

Volcano Worksheets:

I also made some volcano worksheets for Harry. We also watched several cool videos on YouTube and PowerPoint slide shows from www.teacherspayteachers.com
